Ground Breaking for Future Home of Buchanan Scarecrow Charities
By Jean Rose
Friday, March 12, 2021, was the official groundbreaking for the future home of the Buchanan Scarecrow Charities. The Fisher-Rahiser Group formed by Mary Fisher and Brian Fisher purchased land at 606 Carroll Street in Buchanan Township. This property is on the south side of Carroll Street across from the old Electro-Voice factory. The Fisher-Rahiser Group building will house both Buchanan Scarecrow Charities and STEAMWORKS (formerly Megahurtz Robotics ). Construction of the building should begin in late April.
Buchanan Scarecrow Charities (BSC) became a 501c organization in 2013 after having worked under the umbrella of the Buchanan Art Center beginning in 2007. During that time, BSC has worked out of members basements/homes and facilities provided by our supporters. BSC is very grateful to these partners, but look forward to being in this new facility which is referred to as the “Scarecrow Factory.” BSC appreciates this gift from the Fisher-Rahiser Group. This new facility will greatly help BSC continue their mission of community service and giving. A dedication of the building and open house will be held this fall.
