Buchanan College Club Scholarship Winners

The Buchanan College Club, which offers interest free loans to Buchanan High School graduates, hosted their 2021 Honors Banquet on Sunday, May 16th at Lehman’s Farmhouse. This year’s recipients of scholarship funds are Erin Chase and Andrew Ruth, for their outstanding classmanship, volunteerism, extracurricular activities, and above average grade point. The Buchanan College Club was founded in 1922 by a group of 12 women to support other women in their advanced education. Their budget was $15.41. The current club has 18 active members and 10 associate members (long-term members) and raises funds throughout the year toward a scholarship to a deserving BHS graduate in addition to offering interest-free loans to qualifying Buchanan graduates. Since 1950 it has given out over $150,000 in loans. Some of the Buchanan College Club’s fundraisers include bake sales at the Farmer’s Market (June 12th, July 10th, and August 7th), Fish/Chicken Fry at Hilltop Café, and Shop ‘Til You Drop.
