Saturday August 28th was another great day for the Buchanan-Galien Lions. The club hosted our Second Annual Kickball Tournament and Fourth Annual Corn and Sausage Roast.
The events were held at the McCoy Creek Park Lions Pavilion and the Buchanan High School ladies softball field.
Despite it being HOT, HUMID, and did I mention Hot(?) – a good time was had by all who attended both events. A great community turnout in combination with the teamwork of the Lions, their spouses, family and friends helped to make both events successful. As always the local communities support was outstanding and at the end of the day there were a lot of smiling faces.
In Kickball – the Bryan Tumbleson team finished first, Lion Michelle Holloway’s team finished second and the Portage Road General Baptist Church team brought home the third place finish.
All the teams said they had a blast and are already looking forward to next year’s event.
Thank you to our many supply donors, the community, Lions, kickball players/referees and volunteers for your ongoing support! “We Serve” is our Lions motto – we are in our 88th year of supporting the Buchanan-Galien communities – and still going strong.
On Sunday August 29th, the Lions participated in Buchanan’s Faith and Family Day. Past President Mark Skene was part of the praise band that played music at The Commons outdoor amphitheater. Lions Kid Sight screenings were done and the Lions handed out popsicles – a real treat for another very hot day.
