“September 25, couldn’t get here quick enough. That’s the date of our 7th Annual UMW Arts & Crafts Show, held at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds,” said Tina Geyer, President of the UMW (United Methodist Women) from LaPorte First United Methodist Church. Like all other events, last year’s show was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. “We are so excited about seeing our show participants and visitors again. After hosting this show for 7 years, I can honestly say we missed seeing everyone last year,” noted Geyer.

Shoppers will be able to look over vendors’ wares inside 3 fairground buildings that are handicapped accessible. They will find seasonal items as well as inside home décor products, yard ornamentation, original artwork, jewelry, sports-oriented items, floral arrangements, rustic wood signs, pet accessories, wreaths, photography, accessories for adults and children, hand-crafted small furniture and much more. If you’re not in the market for something for yourself, don’t forget Christmas is right around the corner.

“The United Methodist Women (UMW) are so grateful to be able to host this event, which brings really top-notched artisans to the LaPorte community. Vendors come from local surrounding communities as well as far away towns from the states of Indiana, Michigan and Illinois,” said Geyer.

The person responsible for coordinating the show is Dee DeVincent, a member of the LaPorte First United Methodist Church and watercolor artist. As a participant in arts and crafts shows for the past 15 years, she knows how hard 2020 was on vendors like herself. “With no where to sell their goods because of all the event cancellations due to the coronavirus, artists and crafters spent most of 2020 doing what they do best. Creating art and crafts! As a result, visitors to this show can expect to find an abundance of wonderfully hand-crafted items on display by 100 artisans,” DeVincent said.

Show hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm CDT. The LaPorte County Fairgrounds is located at 2581 W. State Road 2, LaPorte, IN. Visitors can enjoy lunch and dessert items that will be available for purchase throughout the day. Admission and parking are free.

In accordance with CDC guidelines and for the protection of everyone attending the show, it would be appreciated if all visitors wear masks inside the buildings. Masks will be available for distribution. THIS IS A VOLUNTARY REQUEST NOT MANDATORY.
