Now That’s Funny! – Issue 12

Now That’s Funny… or is it?

Well folks, today I’m trying to think of something funny that happened. However, on this day 20 years ago there was nothing funny about what happened. I’m talking about the attack that was made by terrorists on 9/11/2001. I’m sure all of you reading this fully remember what happened and where you were when it happened.

I was at work when I started hearing about planes crashing into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York. I had to go online to see any video of what was happening. I was working at the same place my dad did and at the time he was in Mexico. He was only supposed to be down there for a few days.  When I learned that all flights in the US had been grounded, my first thought was my dad is now stuck in Mexico. I finally was able to talk with him on the phone and told him what was going on and what had happened. I was just thankful he wasn’t on any of those planes.

Now there was nothing funny about all of that, but my dad always had a way of looking for something humorous to ease the tension.

Dad had only packed for a few days, but he wound up being down there for over a week!  So, there was some joking about how he had to hand wash his clothes. 😀 After dad did get home, he talked about how he ate the same club sandwich every day for dinner and was so thankful to get home to eat something else. I miss my dad. Sadly, he died last year of cancer.

Now you might find this funny. One year for Christmas my dad gave me a tap and die set as a gift. What was funny was how he had wrapped the gift.  He didn’t just use normal wrapping paper…oh nooooooooo. He wrapped this gift up in the handyman’s secret weapon, duct tape! 🤣 Not only that, but in between the layers of duct tape were these layers of zip ties!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I had spent well over an hour or two unwrapping this thing.

Keep laughing folks! 😊
