Hello from the Buchanan District Library

THE PUMPKIN JAMBOREE RETURNS!
Saturday, October 2, 3-4:30PM Outside the Library | Rain Date October 9
It’s been two long years since we last held our popular Pumpkin Jamboree! This free event is full of festive fall activities for the whole family. Join us for a pedal pull, hay ride, petting zoo, cupcake walk, fortune tellers, games/prizes, carmel apples, and more!
The photos below are from our 2019 Pumpkin Jamboree, which nearly 200 people attended. Our event this year will keep all activities outdoors in the library parking lot and Common. The petting zoo will include llamas, goats, and a mini-donkey! Registration for the pedal pull will take place at the event.
Big thank you to all the volunteers who make the Pumpkin Jamboree possible, and to the Buchanan Lodge #68 Free & Accepted Masons for sponsoring this event! If you’re interested in future volunteer or sponsorship opportunities with the library, contact Community Outreach Coordinator, Sarah Gault, at s.gault@buchananlibrary.com.

ONE BOOK | ONE BUCHANAN A BIG SUCCESS!
We simply cannot say a big enough thank you to everyone who was a part of our One Book | One Buchanan event on September 1st, but we’ll try anyway! Thank you to everyone who came and listened, shared, and learned with us. Thank you to our outstanding panel of facilitators: Patricia Robinson, Ruth Writer, Harvey Burnett, Karen McGuirt, Kadin Mills, Adam Burck, and of course, Sarah Gault! Thank you to our volunteers who helped us set up, tear down, provide A/V, refreshments, and more! Thank you to One Buchanan for being an amazing partner to us throughout this whole program—we could not have done it without this group of hardworking and dedicated people. Thank you to the Buchanan Art Center for hosting a corresponding art show of work featuring themes from the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. Thank you to Isabel Wilkerson for writing this powerful and important book. And thank you to the American Library Association for awarding us a Libraries Transforming Communities grant that made all of this possible in the first place.
If you participated in the ONE BOOK | ONE BUCHANAN event and would like to share your individual or community action plans with the library, you can fill out the form on the ONE BOOK | ONE BUCHANAN page on our website.
One last time, THANK YOU! The town that reads together, succeeds together!
