A Note from the Editor – Issue 14

by Rebecka Hoyt, Editor

Welcome to the 14th issue! When I did my last Note From the Editor it was when I had quite a few interviews to do for that issue. You never know what kinds of article suggestions are going to come your way or when they will come. For this issue, it felt weird that I didn’t have as many articles to do. But much to my knowledge, I was made aware of some great news and that news made it into this issue.

In this issue, we have a few members of the 40 Under 40 Class of 2021. I just finished this article maybe a day and a half before it was published. Congratulations to all of the 40 Under 40 members! (Read it HERE)

Last week Friday was Homecoming and we had a special visitor in the parade, Olympian BMX Silver Medalist Hannah Roberts! I could tell by the expression on her face that she was joyful. (Read it HERE)

Faith and Blue Day happened at our local churches as well as a “Pastries with Police” event. This helps the community to establish good relationships with our police officers. I hope that you were able to participate. (Read it HERE)

Also, I would like to thank our community for bringing their returnable cans to our “Cans for Veterans” boxes located at: Redbud Hardware, Buchanan District Library, Buchanan Area Senior Center, and Buchanan Harding’s. We will be purchasing local business gift cards to hand out to the veterans on or around Veterans Day, stay tuned. The boxes will stay out until early November. We are overwhelmed by your generosity, thank you!

One last final thought: I would like to encourage those of you who are able to attend a Buchanan City Commission Meeting. I know that not everyone can attend a meeting as life happens with school meetings, kids practices/games, working, family, illness, sometimes we forget, etc…. They happen on the 2nd and 4th Monday each month at 7pm at City Hall. Yes, they may take a couple of hours, but the reason is they are following through with things that need to get done. Even if you don’t talk with the commission, you get to know them and see another side of their personality. Let me tell you that they all care for our city and you. With that being said, I hope to see you at City Hall at the Monday, Oct. 26th City Commission Meeting at 7pm.

Enjoy the 14th issue!

Happy Readings,

Rebecka Hoyt
