In case you missed it, Niles-Buchanan YMCA has expanded! June 2020 they broke ground, and after 5 years of planning and $2.6 million, this exciting 14,000 square-foot addition was unveiled to the public last Tuesday, October 12, 2021, and by 5:15pm the ribbon was officially cut to open the space.

YMCA of Greater Michiana hosted the open house and opening ceremonies Tuesday evening; attendance included Greater Niles Chamber of Commerce, Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce, Niles Community Schools, and South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce, as well as many community members and supporters, and plenty of news media.

The new addition includes kids and teens spaces; personal training, fitness, and wellness rooms; more office space and a full-sized gymnasium. With the new spaces come new opportunities for expanded programming like more classes and personal training, and more kid care options also.

Their original building was completed in 2006, and it’s great to see its full use grow into the need for expansion. With so much more room to play and learn, this is your sign to head down to the Y and join in the fun!
