A Note from BCS Superintendent
by Patricia Robinson
The first nine weeks are completed and students have had a full array of engaging activities that have allowed for everyone to be energized for the school year. As a district, we remain committed and focused on our vision: to develop responsible, resilient, creative citizens capable of succeeding in a global society, our mission: educating students for life-long success in their Civic, Academic, Physical and Social/Emotional Lives and our beliefs: to provide a safe, supportive, respectful environment, to provide opportunities for all students, to support student growth and achievement and to foster cooperative relationships among students, families, stakeholders and community members. With these areas as our guiding principles we will have what is needed to ensure all learners are successful.
Within the first few weeks of school, students in grades K-8 participated in an assessment called NWEA/MAPs. This assessment is an adaptive achievement and growth test. It creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student’s learning level—precisely measuring progress and growth for each individual student.
Parent teacher conferences took place during this period. Parents had opportunities to meet with their child’s teachers allowing for ongoing dialogue about the child.
We held our first Superintendent and Buck Parent Conversation meeting this month. Parents and community members are invited and encouraged to attend. You do not need to stay the entire time but feel free to come and share thoughts or ideas. Our next meeting will be held December 8, 2021 at Buchanan Middle School from 4:45 p.m-5:30 p.m.
We were honored to have Hannah Roberts attend the homecoming event with us. Her presence made this year’s event extra special and we are grateful that she took time out of her schedule to spend it with us.
Buck Appreciation is a way that we show our sincere gratitude for Buchanan Community Staff members. One of those nominated will receive a 50.00 appreciation gift. You can nominate someone by going to our website, scrolling down and clicking on the link in the Buck Staff Recognition section. Here you will find the nomination form.
