Mayor’s Memo – Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks

by Mayor Sean Denison

It’s hard to believe that it’s Thanksgiving already.  I’ve often heard that once you are “over the hill”, you pick up speed.  I’m starting to believe it.  Here are a few things that I am thankful for:

I am thankful for the gentlemen that sit on the City Commission.  It can be a thankless job, and it requires the sacrifice of our most important resource: time.  Thank you to all of them for trying to leave our community better than they found it.

I am thankful for all of the volunteer organizations and the countless hours that they contribute to our community.  They truly are the best thing about Buchanan.

I am thankful for the team at City Hall.  The work that they do and the hours that they put in do not go unnoticed.  The DPW crews and the city administration work tirelessly for the entire community.  Please thank them if you see them.

I am thankful for our business owners, both old and new.  I appreciate that they have chosen our community to follow their entrepreneurial dreams.  I am also thankful that they decorated their storefronts, and made our downtown so inviting this holiday season.

I am thankful for our first responders.  They are great examples to our children, and they deserve a heart felt thank you for putting our citizens before their own safety.

I am thankful for our veterans. The only reason any of the previous things I mentioned are possible is because of the sacrifices so many have made.

Thank you, see you around town,
