Happy New Year!

One of the questions I get the most is – what is the city doing with any revenues that it receives from the marijuana industry in town?  The answer is – we are reinvesting it in our community.  Our recently rolled out economic development incentive programs are being funded with revenues that the city received from cannabis excise dividends.  Early last year the City Commission moved forward with funding economic development programs brought forth by Richard Murphy, our Community Development Director.  The goal, is to spur economic development and investment in our community.  Bringing empty buildings back on line, and encouraging businesses to choose Buchanan as a place to invest.  The façade grant program and the downtown restaurant incentive program have already awarded funds to several businesses. 

We have several more restaurant opportunities being considered at this time, and a tremendous amount of interest from potential business owners and investors wanting to get in on the excitement that is happening in Buchanan.  It is truly setting up to be a Happy New Year!
