Winter Safety Tips

It’s wintertime now and we all know this can mean slippery roads and the possibility of being stranded somewhere for sliding off the road. So here’s a few simple things that we can do to be prepared for such an event, just in case.

First off, it’s always a good idea to check the tire pressure in all our tires to ensure they are up to pressure. Tires really can make the difference between sliding off the road and maintaining control so as not to slide off the road. Also, it helps to keep at least a good half tank of gas in the auto so if you do get stranded you can keep the engine running to stay warm, provided you didn’t wreck the engine to where it won’t run.

Now here are some things to keep in your auto and have on hand:

• Blanket
• Hand warmers
• Bottled water
• Snacks, such as granola bars
• First aid kit
• Flashlight

Hopefully you won’t get stranded and have to use these things, but it never hurts to be prepared.
