Local Businesses Network Together to help Buchanan Art Center

The Buchanan Art Center is now using more technology to help their members and guests sign up for art classes and memberships thanks to the help of two local Buchanan businesses. The art center was in desperate need of a “Laptop, keyboard and mouse as our current equipment was aging, unreliable, and, well, archaic,” said Jeannine Davie who is the Co-Director of the art center. The cost for a new one is around $1,000.00. And that is just too much for the art center to afford.

Jeannine contacted Michael Rowland at Michigan Gateway Community Foundation in Buchanan to see if they would be able to help them with this need. Then, Michael reached out to Honor Credit Union just over the next block to see if they would be able to help the art center in any way. Community Assistant Vice President Karol Behrle looked into it and they were glad to help with this request as Honor Credit Union has given some refurbished laptops away to their employees and they had one available!

On Friday, February 4, 2022 Christy Layman, Buchanan Member Center Manager and Karol Behrle, CAVP from Honor Credit Union presented a laptop, keyboard and a mouse along with an HCU backpack to Jeannine Davie, Co-Director at the Buchanan Art Center!

Later on, an addition to this donation was made by the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation who donated a LaserJet Pro 400 printer, two AT&T speakerphone sets as well. Jeannine states that “We are truly grateful for that.” Great things happen when caring businesses network together!
