“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” Robert Louis Stevenson
I thought of this quote by Robert Louis Stevenson the other day as I drove through town. There is so much happening. There are so many new and exciting projects being worked on. New businesses, new people, and a new enthusiasm. I am very proud of the work that the city has done over the last few years to make Buchanan better. A place to start a business. A place to raise your family and a place to call home.
I think it’s important to remember that even though the last two years slowed us down due to the challenges that the pandemic placed on all of us, we still made progress as a community. We planted seeds that are just now starting to bear fruit. New economic incentive programs, new people in positions that promote the businesses and community are all having an effect. They will continue to have a positive impact and we will continue to see positive outcomes, as long as we stay consistent and persistent. Someone once said, “The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it.”
If we stay patient and committed, if we plan accordingly, if we remain steadfast in our commitment to be business friendly, to set legislative priorities that will benefit the whole of the community – we will continue to see the community thrive.
