Happy Easter (a day early)! Are you getting ready to go to the Community Easter Egg Hunt at the Common at 11am this morning or attending an Easter service at one of our local churches this weekend? This question may sound familiar as I would like to remind you on our Facebook page, we have “Take-A-Poll Tuesday.” Whichever Easter tradition you do, I hope that you all have a great weekend.
Buchanan has had crazy weather/temperatures, and I heard from meteorologist Matt Rudkin that some cold is coming or is already here. Hopefully it will be short-lived and we all can get out more, tend to our yards and enjoy the warmth from the sun. Earlier this week, my husband and I enjoyed some Gary Z’s for lunch at the duck pond. However it was quite windy, but plenty of sunshine and getting some Vitamin D!
In this issue, you will see more articles compared to our last issue. As it gets warmer, you will see our team out and about more often. I attended the Buchanan City Commission Meeting this past Monday evening. It was a long meeting (some meetings have been known to only last 30 minutes!) however, during the closed session, community members had a great talk of reminiscing Buchanan with Police Chief Tim Ganus. This was one meeting where I felt we all came together and learned a little bit more about each other, another reason why Buchanan is the “Nicest Place in America!” This may not happen at every meeting, however I encourage everyone to attend them. I can’t tell you enough how much you learn when you attend just one meeting. They are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at City Hall on N. Redbud Trail at 7:00pm. You can also view the meetings on Comcast Channel 17 or on the City’s YouTube Channel. For more information click on this link for the City of Buchanan’s website.
The Buchanan Chronicle team really appreciates the many events/submissions that we receive from clubs, organizations and businesses. If you have a business that you really like or you own, and would like to be showcased in some future issues, send us an email to: buchananchronicle@att.net or a message on our Facebook page. We also have some competitive advertising available so we can raise our funds to have some printed issues for our community who rely on the “newspaper type” as well, and we would be glad to email that to you.
Lastly, I would like to give credit where credit is due to our current team of GREAT volunteers as next week is “Volunteer Appreciation Week”: Jen Garry, Tom Hoyt, Kelly Brown, Nik Sanchez, Jill McDonald, Garrick Stubblefield, Madelyn Kitchell, Miranda Barger, and Tracie Crenshaw. We would not be able to put this publication together without you. We appreciate all that you do. THANK YOU!❤️
Happy Readings,
Rebecka Hoyt
