A Note from the Editor – Issue 28

by Rebecka Hoyt, Editor

Finally a nice day has arrived that isn’t too hot or too chilly and I am writing this while sitting on the swing in my backyard and enjoying an iced tea that I had for lunch at Cafe Italiano Sweet Shop with my friend and our publisher, Jen. I am greeted with blue skies, a few cirrus clouds, a nice breeze and birds are singing in the background. However, when the clouds go in front of the sun, it gets a little chilly, hence I am in the shade of a big maple tree.

I hope that you have been able to enjoy this spring/early summer in Buchanan. If not, here are some events that you may just enjoy before the month is over.

Down at the Common on Saturdays from 8am – 1pm is the bustling Buchanan Farmers’ Market. You will find produce, crafts, bake sales, woodwork items, fabrics/knits, homemade soaps, activities for kids to do on the stage of the Common and of course The Buchanan Chronicle team! I would like to thank the 72 people and doggies (we didn’t count them) who stopped by our booth last Saturday and bought some swag, gave donations and had nice chats with! Yes, we are keeping track of how many people visit our booth and turn it into a little competition with our team and whoever is the closest wins a gift card to a Buchanan business. We will be back there in July – so stay tuned for that date.

Memorial Day Parade will happen on Monday, May 30th downtown Buchanan Front Street and all the way to Oak View Cemetery at the Veterans Circle on Tour Coupe Road at 10am. Come see Miss Blossomtime who is also our own Miss Buchanan in the parade! You may see our team throughout the parade route getting some photos, so be sure to wave and say “Hi” and wear your red, white and blue.

Thursday, June 2nd at 7pm starts the free concerts at the Common. You may also see some of our team attend the concerts as they will write some reviews on some of the bands playing. There will be a list of those concerts in this issue as well as in the future.

Buchanan High School Graduation is also going to happen very soon. The Buchanan Chronicle would like to congratulate every senior for a job well done this year and for sticking through a pandemic and achieving so much this past year. Good luck to all of you in everything you do and don’t forget to come back to town.
Just a reminder if you need some advertising for an event, club or business, send us an email to: buchananchronicle@att.net or a message through our Facebook page. Also, if you would like to help us capture an event or sport(s), you can send us an email as well for more information. Enjoy the issue and don’t forget to get outside when it’s nice out!

Happy Readings,
Rebecka Hoyt
