Local Business – Moonrise Winery Summer Events

Summer Event Bring Locals Joy at Moonrise Winery

by Tracie Crenshaw

Nestled south of downtown Watervliet off of M140, Moonrise Winery offers wine made from locally-grown grapes. Marvelous views on a patio overlooking its vineyards provide a relaxing ambiance for the bi-weekly live music events.

On the first and third Fridays each month, residents (and visitors) can enjoy live music on the patio and local culinary flare with a food truck.

The first event occurred on May 6, where Tim Just Tim performed despite dreary weather conditions. Because of the rain, the stage moved inside the tasting room, delighting folks of all ages. He played a combination of 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s rock music on his acoustic guitar. During his rendition of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”, song sheets were handed out to the patrons and everyone sang along – some even cutting a rug and dancing to the music.

Steps from the front door, Holy Smokers BBQ truck livened people’s taste buds with delicious offerings like brisket, pulled chicken, macaroni and cheese, and a BBQ sundae – which even looked like its ice cream counterpart.

Moonrise offers a variety of white, red, and rose wines and is open Fridays through Sunday. Join the fun with a glass of mango-passion fruit sangria during one of the next live music events.
