
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – GP Manufacturing, Inc.

Thursday, July 14, 2022 was a bright and sunny day for the woman-owned business, GP Manufacturing, Inc., ribbon cutting ceremony put on by the Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce. President of GP Manufacturing, Inc. Erika Schmid, has been the owner for the last 3 & ½ years. They have been named to the 2022 list of Michigan’s 50 small businesses to watch by Michigan Celebrates Small Business, the most prestigious small business awards program in the state. GP was chosen for the honor from more than 900 nominees.

GP Manufacturing, Inc. is a Buchanan, MI business located at 16689 Bakertown Road. They consist of mid – high production prototypes, wear components, manufacturing repair and overstock (MRO), commodity management and spline shafts. Erika Schmid, President stated, “We have grown 30% and have already beat last year by 26% already, and business is good. We are the source for customers who search for a partner anchored on LEAN principles and the delivery of continuous improvement in value. From industries as diverse as aerospace to R/V, and everything in between, we have built a solid reputation as a partner that dependably supplies complex quality parts, on time, every time.” A tour was offered afterwards with some refreshments.
State and local dignitaries came and celebrated with GP: State Senator Kim LaSata, Buchanan City Commissioner Patrick Swem, Buchanan City Development Director Rich Murphy, members of the Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce, and Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber of Commerce.
