Birthday Celebration at Roti Roti Art Center of Buchanan
Submitted by Martha Bolyard of Roti Roti Art Center of Buchanan
Earlier in July, Marie Remington celebrated her 80th birthday! Marie is Buchanan’s well known art and pottery teacher for her years of leadership and service at both Buchanan High School and, in retirement, at the Buchanan Art Center–newly renamed the Roti Roti Art Center of Buchanan.
Marie was honored by local friends, artists and family with a punch and cookies celebration at the Center on July 7. She was delighted and grateful to learn that a secret campaign had taken place, raising several thousand dollars for the Center’s pottery studio upkeep. Marie was especially surprised when fellow Art Center pottery instructor, Cathy Tapia, announced that the pottery studio had been renamed and will now be known as the “Marie Remington Pottery Studio.”
Marie is another special Buchanan native and retiree whose grit, determination, and love of pottery continues to help provide amazing creative arts opportunities and services in the “Nicest Place in America.”
