Mayor’s Memo – September 2022

VOTE this Fall

by Mayor Sean Denison

The City of Buchanan had a 15.5% turnout for the August Primary Election.  That is 564 voters out of 3,646 that are registered.  We can and we must do better this November.

“Someone struggled for your right to vote. Use it.”

Susan B. Anthony

The election on November 8th will be here before you know it.  I urge all our residents to do their civic duty.  Please register to vote.  The last day to register for the November election is Monday October 24.  If you have questions concerning how or where to register, please contact our City Clerk.  She is extremely knowledgeable, and more than happy to answer your questions concerning all topics related to elections and voting.  You can contact Kalla Langston at City Hall, by telephone at (269) 695-3844 ext. 17 or by email at clerk@cityofbuchanan.com.

To be eligible to register to vote you must be:

  • A Michigan resident (at the time you register) and a resident of your city or township for at least 30 days (when you vote)
  • A United States citizen
  • At least 18 years of age (when you vote)
  • Not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison

If you are already registered, please take the time to educate yourself on the issues and candidates that will be on the ballot and then make sure you show up at your polling place on November 8th.

Remember:

“Bad officials are elected by good citizens who don’t vote.”

George Jean Nathan

Thank you, see you around town,
Sean Denison, Mayor
