Happy New Year, from Buchanan Middle School
Submitted by BMS Principal Shelby Beasley
Across the globe, the new year is celebrated on January 1st. However, to educators, August also brings new year vibes and opportunities for a fresh start. The staff at Buchanan Middle School celebrated the new year by setting personal goals – similar to a resolution – for the new school year. That same evening, the staff was delighted to open the doors to the building and welcome back our Jr. Herd for orientation. In a record-setting year, 84% of our families were able to attend. At orientation, students received schedules, met teachers, and tried out lockers. There were also many other stations including one sponsored by our PTO where parents could write a postcard to students to be delivered the first week. Community partners such as The Promise, Honor Credit Union, and local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts also greeted families. Buchanan Middle School is off to a wonderful start to the “New Year” and staff and students look forward to academic growth and fun memories the 2022-23 school year will bring.
