Ottawa Kindergarten and First Graders Ventured to School Farm

Write-Up and Photos Submitted by Ottawa Principal Stacy Denison
Ottawa kindergarten and first graders ventured to the School Farm for some great beginning of the year field trips. First graders learned about recycling. Each class created their own mini landfill, in which they made predictions about what will happen to their ‘trash’ when they return in the spring. Kindergarteners experienced an informative hayride about the crops, visited various animals, and chose a pumpkin to take home from the patch. We are so lucky as a community and school system to have the School Farm as a resource and a place for outdoor educational opportunities right in our backyard! Thank you Jane Mitchell and Jessica Lewis for making these experiences amazing for our students!
