Wednesday, October 12 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm the public had a chance to meet Olympian Hannah Roberts at the Roti Roti Art Center of Buchanan. Families and adults chatted with her, some photos were taken, a chance to hold her silver Tokyo Olympic 2020/2021 medal (summer olympics were scheduled for 2020, however due to Covid-19 they were held in 2021) for BMX and a chance to enter your kid for a free winter art class for those 12 and under.

Typical questions asked were about how she travels, which is a lot, where she practices in North Carolina and the dream to build a skate park in her parents backyard. She also has many bicycles and some that she has given to others including one of her helmets. When you hold her medal, it’s quite shocking how heavy it is. Hannah said, “When they placed the medal around my neck it was like whoa! That’s heavy and I said “Good luck” to the next person for their medal.”

Hannah plans to go to the next summer Olympics of 2024 in Paris. Keep up the good work Hannah! And thank you for all the excitement you have brought to our small town because of your talent.
