November BAMA Monthly Meeting Recap
Submitted by Pastor Nate Babcock, Buchanan Christian Church
We had a very good meeting this past Tuesday morning (November 1) at Buchanan First Presbyterian Church. Thank you David Habicht for your hospitality, and for your wonderful devotion about listening to the Lord, especially as He speaks to us through others.
Redbud Area Ministries
Pastor Bill Walters let us know that RAM has launched their 2nd annual “virtual ball” in which they are asking supporters to donate to RAM what they think it would cost them to go to a ball. RAM gave out 4900 pounds of food in October. RAM does NOT do Thanksgiving baskets, but they are now taking applications for Christmas assistance. The Christmas distribution will take place on December 17. Also, RAM will be closed from December 20 – January 3.
The Salvation Army
Tim Douglass let us know that the Salvation Army is also now accepting applications for Christmas assistance. Their Christmas distribution will occur in the week before RAM’s distribution. Right now the Army has had to cap their Feeding His Sheep program at 267 kids, because they do not currently have the funds to serve more. Please pray that God will provide the funds to meet the need that is present. There will be Army counter kettles in stores around Buchanan during the holidays, but no bell ringers in Buchanan (they will be plenty of other places in the Michiana area).
Life Plan
Lyndon spoke about White Ribbon against Porn Week, and also about True Charity Network. True Charity Network provides materials, models, and teaching to help churches and other ministries activate the principles of the book Helping Without Hurting. Also, Life Plan will be hosting a Pastors’ Summit luncheon at Smokin’ Jim’s Barbecue in Niles on Tuesday December 6th. Donna Harrison will be the guest speaker, and she will speak about the abortion battle and the church.
Faith & Blue Weekend
Once again, the participating churches very much enjoyed having officers from the Buchanan Police Department at their worship services. The cookout and ice-cream social at St. Paul’s also went well, though the attendance was not quite as good as last year. Officer Brie and Brandon Bishop – what was your perspective on how Faith & Blue went? How did the events at Life Action go? Please give us your feedback.
Community Christmas Concert
Sunday December 4th at 6:30 pm at Buchanan Christian Church. Please be promoting this event to your congregations and organizations. Dan Barz is organizing the Christmas Concert. Please let Dan know the musical number that a soloist or group from your church will be performing – by November 22nd. Also, we decided to have the cookie and coffee fellowship once again this year. Each church needs to provide 3 dozen cookies. Simply bring them to BCC on that Sunday the 4th. Finally, we agreed to pay to advertise the Christmas concert in the Buchanan Chronicle.
Next Meeting
We agreed that we will use the Life Plan Pastors’ Summit on Tuesday, December 6th as our December meeting.
Blessings to you all,
Nate
