Local Business – LIGHTS at Fernwood

LIGHTS at Fernwood Returns for 2022

by Rebecka Hoyt, Editor & Photographer and Jen Garry, Publisher

A year-long project is now on display known as “Lights at Fernwood” at Fernwood Botanical Garden on 13988 Range Line Rd., Niles, MI 49120. So bundle up and take a nice stroll with your family, friends, a date night, or just yourself to experience this once a year event.

They have 21 nights this year for you to experience more light and music during the holiday season. Some changes have been made as in extending the trail, and adding more lights. Thursday – Sunday nights are the times you can come starting at 5:30pm till 9pm through January 1, 2023. You can access a FAQ sheet on their website as well as purchase presale tickets. The time slots are indicated so there is enough parking for everyone. So, buy your tickets online as they are highly encouraging everyone to do so.

There is one in and one out for the trail. The education center has a craft prepared and a huge 239 – poinsettia tree inside designed by horticulturist Steve Bornell and Tracy Dippo, and some light concessions hot cocoa and merch for sale. You will make your way through tunnels of lights and many trees with lights on them or hanging down from them. Be sure to look up and when you turn around you will see a different lighting area. There is a great spot for you to take a photo with your family or friends to remember this event.

You will make your way back into the building to check out an art display and all things Fernwood. We hope that this will add some great memories for you during this time. Let us know if you had the chance to experience the Lights at Fernwood this season. And maybe we will see you there. Brownie points to those who say, “We read about it in The Buchanan Chronicle!”
