Local Arts – Coming Soon “Clue” at Tin Shop Theatre

Buchanan’s Tin Shop Theatre in Their 41st Production Year Presents Fun and Mysterious “Clue

by Rebecka Hoyt, Editor & Photographer

The familiar production of “Clue” is being performed in downtown Buchanan’s Tin Shop Theatre in their 41st year of productions! Did you see the movie Clue back in the 1980’s or play the game Clue? If not, or if you did and you enjoyed it, then you have a chance to see it in person at the Tin Shop Theatre at the corner of Roe Street and Oak Street (parking located at the Redbud City Center) in Buchanan, MI from February, 24 – 26 and March 3 – 5 2023.

A 12-member cast from Buchanan & St. Joseph, MI as well as South Bend, IN and other areas will make this a great and fun production as it has been, “a favorite of theirs that they grew up with,” mentioned by many cast members. Wendy Goodrich who’s been in three previous productions at the Tin Shop Theatre plays a very smart & business-minded Miss Scarlet in a red velvet dress, stated, “this is my all time favorite movie and was a dream of mine to play this role.” Jeff Starkey, 5-time Tin Shop Theatre actor plays the role as Mr. Green acting like a germaphobe said, “I’m a fan of the movie, know the lines well, but they’re not exactly the same as the movie.”

If your Buchanan High School student takes Spanish, they will see a very familiar face as Charli Moray plays Mrs. Peacock “who is a high-strung woman, has a high-class attitude,” stated Charli. This is her first production here. Wadsworth, the butler, is played by Jarred Medukas from Buchanan in his second production at the Tin Shop Theatre. Jarred describes Wadsworth as “he loses his mind with the crew from the beginning to the end, but has a very good stage presence.” He loved the 1980’s movie and had to do the play. Colonel Mustard is played by first-time Tin Shop Theatre actor, Mike Neuenschwander but has done three other plays elsewhere. His character is “not as brave and gives inappropriate replies at times,” stated Mike jokingly.

When you attend “Clue,” pay attention to what the characters say and where they go as things move fast. You may consider attending another showing as you will see things that you didn’t see the first time. You will have to come and see who did it, where they did it and what they did it with.

Director, Kelly Carlin happily says, “I am proud of everybody. Each one (person) stands out in their own way.” Backdrops for the stage were donated by Buchanan Bands which will also be used in future productions. Dr. Pat Moore is the sponsor for “Clue.” Trevor Hough is back co-directing with Kelly which he helped with the music in the summer of 2021 play “Nifty Fifties.” Another regular of the Tin Shop Theatre is Casey Dyczko as the Stage Manager, who has been in “Smokefall” and “Nifty Fifties” as well. The play is rated for possibly 5th grade/teen and older.
