BCS School Spotlight – Moccasin Elementary February 2023

Moccasin February Update

Submitted by Moccasin Elementary School Principal Michael Babcock
Moccasin Food Drive

We are happy to announce that we had a successful food drive from January 31 to February 14th. All items were donated to Redbud Area Ministries (RAM). Student Council members helped count and personally delivered the items to RAM on February 14th.

We will also had a friendly competition within grade levels with the most food items per grade level class receiving a donut party.

Additionally, if the school collected 2500 items students had the extra incentive of taping Mr. Babcock to the wall.

We collected 3,343 items to help support our community thus surpassing our goal by nearly 900 items.

Student Council Visits Buchanan Meadows

On December 15th, 30 student council members visited Buchanan Meadows to sing carols and deliver Christmas cards drawn by Moccasin students. This was an uplifting community building experience for the students. As we enter 2023, student council will continue to engage with the community and make a difference within the walls of Moccasin.

Teacher Spotlight – Mrs. Staup

Over the past several weeks, Mrs. Staup and her students have written letters to 16 different elementary schools throughout the country. In their letters, Mrs. Staup and her students highlight the daily class routine and details about the community and Moccasin. So far, her class has received 10 letters from California to the Northeast.

Our students are enjoying hearing from students and teachers from around the county and we thank Mrs. Staup for organizing this exciting activity.

3rd Grade Food Drive

Thank you to our 3rd grade teachers and students for putting together a successful cereal box food drive. The team collected 150 cereal boxes to donate to Redbud Area Ministries. And to top it off, the students had fun lining the boxes up in the gym and knocking them down like dominos before being delivered.
