“Of all my favorites, top pick for me was when Rebecka and I were able to interview Ulrike McCarty in her new Buchanan space, River of Life Yoga. She gave us a tour and even a little yoga moment, it was wonderful. Ulrike spent some time with us, giving us insight into her process and how her dream space came to be. Saturday, June 19, 2021, I was able to be at the ribbon-cutting ceremony opening the space as well, which was lovely! Another great part of the community I love (and am glad to spread the news about) here in Buchanan!”

“Picking my favorite article for this issue was a challenge. Out of all the articles I have written this year, they have a special place in my heart. However, with this article on Clear Lake, Buchanan, MI history, I was fascinated by the stories Larry Rosenquist shared with me. So, take a few minutes to read this article again or if you haven’t yet and may it bring joy to you during this Christmas season.”

“My favorite article is without a doubt this one about the Buchanan School Band.  It is my favorite because it gives attention to a group of students that do not otherwise get this media attention. Usually the athletes get the media attention, so it is a real treat to have the band get some attention.”

Issue 11 – September 4, 2021

~ Jill McDonald, Writer & Photographer
“When looking back on articles I’ve written for The Buchanan Chronicle, it’s been fun recalling what I’ve shared in written form and photos. When asked my favorite, I’d have to say my article on periodical cicadas is at the top for me. It was especially fun to write and research as it was a rare natural phenomenon occurring near to us, which I had only witnessed once many years ago. Although I didn’t observe them in Buchanan this year, a road trip to Ohio one weekend during their emergence joyously allowed me to witness them! Enjoy the article Nature Phenomenon Coming Our Way.”

Issue 5 – May 15, 2021
